A Distinct Identity

California Grizzlies know that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives.

In an ever changing US rugby landscape, we quickly realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch California Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies have been established with the singular intent to be the highest quality rugby program in the US. With the ultimate goal of developing global brand recognition and support built from a foundation of incredible community interest in California. 

California Grizzlies are born out of the San Francisco Bay Area and wider Northern California region and the new brand pays homage to the very best traditions of the original representative team, the Pacific Coast Grizzlies. 

By emphasizing tradition, we honor those that have walked before us and we continue to lay the foundation for future rugby generations.

Through California Rugby, the Grizzlies provide a perfect platform and long-term opportunity to build and develop rugby into a sport of choice for many of the 40 million residents of the state.

The launch of the California Grizzlies will deliver top quality rugby to a region that has a thirst to support a professional team. The fan base exists. The team will be a success… but first we need to to start with realistic intentions in place... and that is to develop representative teams and high performance pathway programs that can showcase the talent that exists in California.
