Compete Together.

California Competition. National Ambition.

The U16 Boys focus on domestic opportunities that challenge players and build a strong foundation for their next step. The annual California Elite All Star Series brings the Grizzlies together with Southern California teams, including San Diego Legion Academy and LA Grizzlies, with the ambition of establishing California as the elite development pathway in the United States.

The team commits to the Great Northwest Challenge in Bozeman, Montana, every year. As reigning All Star champions with three titles, the Grizzlies return on June 25 to 27, 2027, chasing a fourth consecutive title.

A Returning Team. A Rising Generation.

The Grizzlies are reestablishing the U16 Girls team in 2027, creating a representative opportunity for the many rising middle school players who have represented their clubs with distinction.

The U16 pathway focuses on domestic development and competition, helping players build their skills, confidence and connections as they progress beyond club rugby. The U16 Girls team expands that pathway and creates a foundation for the next generation of U19 players.

Proven Champions. More Room to Develop.

Established in 2022, the U19 Boys program combines elite and development sides within the age grade. This structure spreads talent, increases playing opportunities and gives more players the chance to keep developing.

The U19 Boys are the reigning Great Northwest Challenge champions with three titles and the 2026 California Elite All Star Series winners. Their program pairs strong regional competition with opportunities to broaden their rugby experience.

International Tour Experience

• Argentina, 2026: overseas competition and development.
• Japan, 2025: international touring alongside the U23 Men.
• Australia, July 2027: the next planned tour.

A Championship Foundation. A Wider Horizon.

The U19 Girls program was established in 2024, with both elite and development sides creating opportunities for more players to grow. In 2026, the team won its first Great Northwest Challenge title and will return to defend it in 2027.

Following an outstanding inaugural tour to Australia in July 2026, the pathway continues to expand. The U19 Girls join the California Elite All Star Series for the first time in 2027, adding another important domestic opportunity.

A Japan Tour set for September 2027 will further support the growth and development of the girls’ pathway. Exact travel dates, selection and tour arrangements will be published.

International Tour Experience

• Australia, July 2026: the team’s inaugural international tour.
• Japan, September 2027: the next tour is set for September.

California Talent. International Experience.

The U23 Men are the Grizzlies’ collegiate program, bringing together emerging talent from leading college rugby programs. Since the first tour in 2022, international rugby has been central to the team’s development experience.

The program draws from some of the very best collegiate programs in the United States, including Cal Berkeley, Saint Mary’s, UCLA, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Life West. Past touring squads have also included players from Brigham Young University (BYU) and Grand Canyon University. Opportunities also extend to players who originate from California and now attend colleges elsewhere in the United States and abroad.
